Plus: Journaling prompts to invoke gratitude
Whatās up, Hustlers!
I celebrated my birthday last week, and Iām incredibly grateful for all the well wishes yāall sent my way. ā¤ļø
I love getting older. I let go of the bullshit and focus more on my community, my goals, and the conversation Iām having with myself.
Birthdays remind me that we never know what the next year will bring. Itās all about showing up with gratitude, grit, and the belief that every chapter makes us stronger.

.WHAT IāM CELEBRATING.
Latin & Hispanic Heritage Month šµš· šØšŗ So much of who I am is because of my upbringing. Being first-generation born in the United States, with parents from Cuba and Puerto Rico, I learned early on that resilience is in my DNA. My mother taught herself English by watching PBS, and my dad, who worked as a janitor at a CUNY college, put himself through school by auditing classes (like a real-life Good Will Hunting). Being surrounded by strong Latino role models taught me to live fearlessly, hustle with grit, and claim space in the world unapologetically.
For me, celebrating Latin & Hispanic Heritage Month is about owning your story, honoring your roots, and embracing what makes you, you. So, I sat down with my team to share some of the traditions and memories that have shaped meāand I want to know, what makes you who you are?
Q: Go-to Latinx dish?
A: Itās all about congri, flan and picadillo (recipe below!) ā these dishes instantly take me back to family meals growing up.
Q: Favorite holiday or memory with your family?
A: Cooking with my abuela during the holidays was everything. The kitchen was where all the magic happened.
Q: Latinx author or book that has influenced you?
A: Isabel Allende and āMy Broken Languageā by Quiara AlegrĆa Hudesāboth authors remind me of the power of storytelling and owning your narrative.
*If you want to explore more Latinx authors, check out this site and use code LHM24 for 15% off during Latinx Heritage Month!
Q: A childhood Latinx song or musician that brings back memories?
A: Gloria Estefanās "Mi Tierra"āthis song has been in the background of so many moments in my life. Itās like a time machine to my roots.
Q: What are some of your favorite Latinx-owned brands or businesses you are currently loving?
A: Right now, Iām all about Ceremoniaātheir hair products are total game-changers. My "Jefa" necklace from Hija De Tu Madre? Obsessed. Black Rican Vegan is hands down the BEST for big catering orders in NYC. Loisa spices are a staple in my kitchen anytime Iām cooking Latin dishes. And Eva Longoriaās new collab with Siete? Epic partnership. Loving it all.
.WHAT IāM COOKING.
Vegan Picadillo š š For Latin & Hispanic Heritage Month, Iām putting a fresh spin on one of my all-time favorite Latin dishesāpicadillo. Growing up, picadillo was a must at my abuelaās house. It was a staple at every family dinner and holiday. Traditionally, itās made with beef, but using this recipe I swapped in chickpeas and sweet potatoes to keep the sweet and salty flavor while loading it up with plant-based protein. I love serving it over quinoa or rice for a solid carb source, perfect for fueling a long run or an intense strength session. šŖ
Give the recipe a try and let me know what you think!
. WHAT IāM JOURNALING ABOUT.
Gratitude ā£ļø Amidst the hustle of back-to-school chaos, Iāve been focusing on gratitudeābeing present for the little things that bring joy and peace. Itās easy to overlook the simple moments, but taking inventory of everything youāre thankful for - no matter how small - makes you realize just how much you actually have.
Here are a few of my favorite journaling prompts to invoke daily gratitude:
A moment that made me smile todayā¦
Someone who made me laugh todayā¦
A challenge that taught me a lesson todayā¦
Something I accomplished todayā¦
This week, I wrote about being grateful for winding down the day with my kids during bath time. Taking care of my family is part of taking care of myself. And finding these little moments to be present helps keep me grounded and grateful, even in the chaos.
Lately, Iāve been loving NOWĀ® Baby body care products for our nightly routine. The lavender and gentle ingredients like calendula help calm both the kiddos and me after a busy day. These athletes are about to light up the track, bringing all the speed, sound, and swagger NYC is known for.
