.WHAT IāM SHARING.
The Power of Mantras šāāļø The NYC Marathon is this Sunday, and it's one of my favorite days in the cityāit's not just about the miles; it's about the mindset. Every runner out there has something theyāre pushing for. For me, mantras have been a game-changer in running and in life. Short words or phrases have long been used to focus the mind in meditation, and Iāve found theyāre especially powerful when the road gets tough.
One of my original running mantras was simple: āI AM.ā It reminded me of my power, my strength, and my choice to keep going. As Iāve evolved, my mantras have too. Now, itās āIāM NOT DONE YETāāa reminder that thereās so much more to do, on the pavement, and in life. Itās about pushing past limits, refusing to settle, and showing up even when itās hard.
2021 NYC Marathon!
This week, as we tap into that marathon energy, I challenge you to find your own mantra. Keep it short, make it meaningful, and let it carry you through whatever comes your way.
Question: How do you make sure you're getting enough protein as a vegan?
Answer: Itās all about variety, balance, and planning. It's not hardāitās just about being thoughtful. Most days, I hit my protein max with no problem. Hereās what works for me:
- Mixing Plant-Based Sources: I love combining different protein sources like lentils, chickpeas, quinoa, and tofu. I prep a few protein-rich dishes over the weekend, so I am set up for success with a solid variety of protein sources ready to go.
- Adding Protein to Every Meal: I make sure each meal has some form of protein. That might mean tossing chickpeas into a salad, adding hemp seeds to a smoothie, or sprinkling nutritional yeast over roasted veggies for a cheesy, protein-packed boost.
- Convenient Protein Options: On busy days, I lean on quick options like plant-based protein powders in a smoothie, protein bars, or vegan protein yogurt for an easy snack. Theyāre simple ways to get protein when life gets hectic.
You've got thisājust keep it simple and consistent!
