👑 Q&A Rewind

Plus: How can we level up?

What’s up, Hustlers!

Reminder that there is power in stillness.

It gives us time and space to self-reflect and actually hear our thoughts.

With this in mind, I’m taking time today to reflect on some of my favorite questions y'all have asked me over the past few months.

Keep the 🔥 questions coming, fam!

Question: If you’re feeling lost and you know you need to create a new chapter for yourself—but you feel totally out of inspiration—what do you recommend to get unstuck and find a path?

- Charitee

Answer: Let’s start with the reality: This happens to all of us at some point in our lives. There are some seasons in life where you might feel lost. Here’s what I do when I know I’m ready for a change.

1. I take the first step. Any step. The path to success is not circuitous, so start by taking one small step towards something new.

2. I put in overtime in my journal or vision board. I find that writing down my thoughts, emotions, and ideas helps to unclog things up in my mind.

3. I turn to people who inspire me. For example, this episode of Huberman Labs with retired Navy SEAL, ultramarathoner, and best-selling author David Goggins was all about building inner strength…and it fueled my fire. Find the people who inspire you and immerse yourself in their world.

Question: How do I eliminate the unhealthy foods my family brings into the house?

- Carole

Answer: The answer is simple (but not easy) - don't buy them and get them out of the house. I often talk about reducing points of friction, but in this case, it's the opposite. Make the unhealthy foods more difficult to grab; make the bad decision harder to make.

The key is telling your family about your goals. Involve them in the conversation and elicit their support. Together, discuss healthy swaps for foods that everyone can enjoy!

Question: How do you balance cardio and strength training?

- Crystal

Answer: This is a great question. The short answer is… it depends. It depends on your goals and where you are starting from.

Me? I’m currently in my strength era. I’m prioritizing strength as the base of my period. When I feel strong I am a better runner and cyclist. So, right now I do a minimum of 4 days/week of strength training (barbell, dumbbell or kettlebell work) and 3 days/week of conditioning (running or cycling).

Question: Do you have any strategies for dealing with imposter syndrome?

— Craig

Answer: I think we've all experienced imposter syndrome at some point or another. Oftentimes when we reach a certain level of success, we start questioning it. Feelings of self-doubt start creeping in and we start to ask ourselves - Who am I? Do I even deserve this?

Here's what I have to say about that -

Acknowledge how far you've come and remember the hours of hard work and hustle that it took to get there. If you are at the table, you deserve to be there, so own it. There's always more to learn but as long as you continue to lead with power and know that you deserve to be where you are in this very moment, imposter syndrome doesn't stand a chance.

Limiting beliefs are loud. Make your hustle louder.

Question: What are some of your favorite plant-based protein sources?

- Nikki

Answer: One of the questions I get all the time is how I incorporate protein into my plant-based diet. There are tons of ways—I love beans, lentils, tempeh, seitan, and tofu.

If you want a quick and protein-focused vegan meal, check out these Black Bean Tofu Tacos I made with Katie Couric - they are 🔥

Question: What’s the best way to stay motivated?!

- Stef

Answer: I believe motivation is a myth. Motivation hinges on whether or not we feel like it. Motivation is a nice-to-have. Motivation is the person who shows up at the party two hours late. Like, girl, nice of you to show up.

I think it does more harm than it does good for people to expect this avalanche of motivation will come or that this consistent trickle of motivation will appear. That's just not the way it works.

It's about taking action. It’s about taking one step, making one choice, putting one thing on the calendar, sending one email. It’s about doing one thing to iteratively get there.

When we can marry a process that works with a purpose that gets us out of bed, it doesn't matter whether we're motivated to do it. It is the momentum of action that will create future motivation.

Check out my conversation with Adam Grant on his podcast, ReThinking, for more on this topic.

Question: What is some motivation to keep going when you feel stuck in your training?

- Carrie

Answer: One of the best ways to reignite that fire is to change a variable. If you always run the same route, switch it up and try a new one. Invite a friend to join you, or treat yourself to a new workout outfit. These small changes can give you a fresh take on your routine.

Remember, a lot of the work can be boring, and consistent effort is sometimes monotonous. That’s just part of the process. Embrace it, and keep pushing forward. You’ve got this!
