Plus: Mindset shifts to keep you moving

Whatās up, Hustlers!
Self-pity is poison.
Life will test you. Thatās a fact. But hereās your challenge: turn āwhy me?ā into ātry me.ā That mindset shift? Itās where your power lives.
When something unexpected comes my way, I check my inner voice. I speak to myself like I would a friend with honesty, compassion, and strength. The longer you stay stuck in that spiral of self-pity, the more youāre just drinking poison.
Catch the spiral. Interrupt the story. Rewrite the script.

.WHAT IāM REFLECTING ON.
Results from Test Week šŖ Last week was test weekāa checkpoint in my training to assess where Iām at: strength, endurance, power. I hit a PR on my bench press and deadlift, but my row was 7 seconds slower. I felt frustrated, but I had to stop and remind myself: not everything moves forward at once. And thatās okay.
If you find yourself stuck in comparison, frustrated by a plateau, or questioning your pace this weekāhere are a few mindset shifts to help you stay grounded and keep moving:
Zoom Out. One test, one workout, one rough dayānone of it defines the whole journey. Ask yourself: Am I reacting to a snapshot or seeing the full picture?
Name A Win. Even in a mixed bag, thereās progress somewhere. Claim it. Celebrate it. Use it as fuel.
Stay in the Reps. A plateau isnāt failure. Itās feedback. It means youāre still in it, still building. Trust the process and keep showing up.
Remember: youāre building more than numbers.
.WHAT IāM SHOUTING OUT.
Beans deserve more hype! š« Theyāre one of the most underrated power foods out thereāpacked with plant-based protein, fiber, and nutrients that keep your body fueled and your gut happy. Whether you're training hard, chasing energy, or just trying to eat with more intention, beans show up strong.
Hereās a breakdown of a few of my favoritesāand how I like to use them:
Lupini Beans (15g protein per ½ cup): I toss these into salads or make them into delicious nuggets. A fam favorite.
Lentils (9g protein per ½ cup cooked): Perfect in soups, over rice, or as a base for veggie-packed stews. Quick to cook and super satisfying.
Edamame (9g protein per ½ cup): A go-to for post-workout recovery. I throw them into stir-fries, rice bowls, or eat them plain with sea salt and chili flakes.
Black Beans (7g protein per ½ cup): Great in tacos, mixed into grain bowls, or blended into a spicy bean dip. A pantry staple that always delivers.
Chickpeas (7g protein per ½ cup): I roast them for a crunchy snack, mash them into chickpea salad, or blend into hummus for a creamy, protein-rich spread.
.WHAT IāM CHALLENGING YOU.
Start that āsomedayā project. š ļø You know the oneāthe idea thatās been living rent-free in your head. The dream you keep saying youāll get to someday when youāre less busy, when life calms down, when the timing feels right.
Back when I was practicing law, I started carving out 10 minutes on my work calendar just for me. Iād use it to imagine my next pivot, sketch out new ideas, or write down the vision I was building toward. Those 10 minutes? They launched the life Iām living now.
No more waiting for the āright time.ā Hereās this weekās Summer of Swagger challenge: every day this week, block off 10ā15 minutes to work on your āsomedayā project. Plot. Plan. Brainstorm. Research. Dream out loud.
At the end of the week, show us what youāve got. A screenshot, a scribble, a sentence. Tag us and share your progress. It doesnāt have to be perfectāit just has to be real.

The ESPYs on Extra š¤ Iām headed to the ESPYs this week and reporting live from the red carpet with Extra! Tune in at 2:30 PM PST / 5:30 PM EST to catch all the action.
Some of the most iconic athletes in the world will be showing upāand Iāll be asking the questions that go beyond the stats. I want to know what fuels their mindset, what powers their drive, and how they show up when no oneās watching.
You know I live for these moments. Letās celebrate greatness, resilience, and hustle. Catch the showāand donāt forget to cast your votes. ā¬ļø

The first Barbie with T1D š Yesterday on GMA, I shared more about my incredible collaboration with Barbie. As a lifelong Barbie fan, this full-circle moment is one Iāll never forget. We talked about Mattelās launch of the first-ever Barbie doll with Type 1 diabetesāand I was honored with my own one-of-a-kind doll that reflects my journey. Representation matters, and this partnership is all about showing kids (and adults!) that their power isnāt limited by their challengesāitās defined by how they rise.
Thanks for reading, Hustlers. Go out there, pivot with power, and stay curious about whatās next.
