👑 The question that has changed my life

Plus: How to make a career pivot

What’s up, Hustlers!

Why not you?

This question has changed my whole damn life.

For centuries and generations we’ve carried the same struggles, repeated the same patterns, and lived with the wiring passed down through our bloodlines.

But it only takes one. One person bold enough to press reset. One person to stand up and say: It stops with me.

Your choice today has the power to rewire not just your story, but the story of everyone who comes after you.

So I’ll ask you again: Why not you?

 .WHAT I’M PACKING.

Mini Blueberry Protein Muffins đŸ« It’s Athena and Atlas’s first week back at school, and y’all know the back-to-school hustle is real. Between the craziness, I try to keep their lunch boxes stocked with snacks that fuel their energy and taste good (yes, they’re vegan too!).

Last week, I brought the GMA crew one of our family go-tos—mini blueberry muffins from my new cookbook Eat to Hustle. They’re packed with protein, fiber, and flavor.

You’ll find lots more family-friendly, plant-powered snacks like these in my new cookbook, Eat to Hustle. Pre-order today! âŹ‡ïž

What are some of your favorite snacks to pack? I’m always looking for ways to level up the lunch box hustle.

 .WHAT I’M LISTENING TO.

Life lessons from Shonda Rhimes đŸ“ș Shonda Rhimes is one of my biggest inspirations. She’s the revolutionary creator behind Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Bridgerton, and so many more shows that changed the game for storytelling on TV.

I loved this conversation with Adam Grant. They dug into the bold moves that shaped her success, the lessons from her memoir Year of Yes, and what it really takes to lead and tell powerful stories.

If you’re ready for a dose of courage and creativity, give this episode a listen. You’ll walk away ready to say “hell yes” to what scares you. đŸ’Ș

 .WHAT I’M EMBRACING.

Fresh Start September đŸ“† Fall brings that “back to school” energy—fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, new routines. It’s the season of structure, and if you lean into it, you can build consistency. The year isn’t over. We’ve still got 100+ days left to make moves.

Last week on GMA, I joined Robin Roberts to talk about how to embrace this new-season momentum and get started on a new goal. I even answered questions submitted from this community (thank you Ashley and Susan!). Here are a few of the tips I shared:

  • Anchor in your “why.” On the toughest days, remind yourself what truly drives you. Coming back to your purpose gives you clarity and strength when motivation runs low.

  • Schedule self-check-ins. Once a week, pause and ask yourself: What do I need?

  • Set boundaries with compassion. Saying “not now” doesn’t make you less reliable—it makes you sustainable.

If you’re ready to set a new goal this month, here’s a simple framework to get started. Ask yourself the three questions below and fill in the blanks. Share your answers on social and tag me in your Fresh Start September goals!

The 2025 Forbes Power Women’s Summit 🚀 On Wednesday, September 10th, I’ll be speaking at the 2025 Forbes Power Women’s Summit, joining some of the most inspiring women leaders who are shaping the future.

Question: I’m thinking of making a career change, but not sure where to start. Do you have any tips?

- Alyssa

Answer: Congrats on even considering a career change—that’s a bold first move. Stepping into the unknown isn’t easy, but remember: you’re built for hard things. Your dreams are worth the leap. Here are some tips that helped me along the way.

1. Take honest inventory of your skill set. What can you leverage? What do you need to learn?

2. Start small, move fast. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. It doesn’t exist. Take one concrete step today: reach out to someone in the field, sign up for a class, or block time to brainstorm your next move.

3. Plant all the seeds. Tell anyone who will listen about your big dream. Send the email. Make the call. Conversations I had 10 years ago are now coming to fruition. Hold space for the vision and let go of the exact timeline.

Trust your hustle. You’ve built skills, resilience, and grit. Bring that same energy into your next chapter.
