Plus: Summer book recs from this community

What’s up, Hustlers!
Excuses? They’re just lies we tell ourselves convincingly.
“I don’t have time.”
“I’m too tired.”
“I’ll start next week.”
Sound familiar? They’re not truths—they’re convenient stories. And we’ve gotten really good at telling them.
Here’s the real talk: Your dreams don’t care how convincing your excuses sound. They care whether you show up. Whether you take the next step. Whether you do the thing anyway.
This week, I’m challenging you to catch yourself mid-excuse and ask: Is this real, or is it just rehearsed resistance? Then choose action.
Let’s go.

.WHAT I’M LOVING.
Your summer reading list 📚️ A few weeks ago, I asked what’s on your summer reading list—and wow, y’all delivered. I took time to go through all your suggestions and rounded up the most-mentioned titles below. I’m adding them all to my stack—and if you're looking for your next read, this list is a great place to start:
The Women by Kristin Hannah – A gripping portrait of a young nurse’s experience in the Vietnam War, shedding light on the women who served and were forgotten.
Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid – A sweeping story about fame, reinvention, and the emotional climate we carry through life’s big changes.
The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins – A practical push to stop overthinking and start doing—filled with tough love and real tools to take control of your life.
Broken Country by Clare Leslie Hall – A haunting look at the long tail of trauma and what it means to rebuild a life after shattering experiences.
My Friends by Fredrik Backman – A heartfelt, humorous, and deeply human novel about the bonds that carry us through life’s messiest moments.
.WHAT I’M SIPPING.
Salty Lemonade 🍋 Summer sweat means it’s time to get serious about hydration—and that’s more than just chugging water. I’ve learned (through a lot of sweaty miles!) that electrolytes are key to staying energized, sharp, and ready to move.
Lately, I’ve been reaching for LMNT’s Lemonade Salt flavor—it brings that nostalgic sweet-meets-tart vibe without any sugar or weird ingredients. It’s clean, simple, and it works.
I’ll mix it into water post-run or pour it into a big pitcher with fruit for the fam. However you use it, it helps replace what your body loses in the heat: sodium for muscle function, potassium for energy, and magnesium to stay calm and sleep better.

.WHAT I’M REPEATING .
Don’t wait for motivation 📣 Let’s get one thing straight—motivation is not the hero of the story. It’s the flake who shows up late to the party with no dish in hand. You can’t rely on it to get things done.
In this episode of ReThinking with Adam Grant, I break down why motivation is overrated and action is everything. Motivation might give you a spark, but it’s momentum—the daily choices, the emails sent, the plans made—that actually builds the fire.
We talk about:
Why chasing motivation can backfire
How purpose and process fuel long-term progress
Why one small action is more powerful than waiting for a “perfect moment”
If you’ve ever felt like you’re waiting for a sign to start, this is it. Tune in, take action, and let momentum lead the way.

I’M IN CANNES THIS WEEK 🇫🇷 Cannes Lions 2025 is on, and today I’m joining Weber Shandwick’s Robyn Adelson for a fireside chat: “Influence in Motion.”
We’re talking about what it really means to lead with purpose, build trust at scale, and turn community into a movement—the same energy we bring to Swagger Society.
Cannes is a reminder: we don’t just follow trends—we create them.

My new Split+ Ride is officially live—and I’m pumped! 💪 This is how I train, y’all. These 45-minute classes combine solid strength work with focused conditioning to help you build muscle and boost your aerobic capacity.
Each class kicks off with 30 minutes strength training—think 3x10 sets, followed by an accessory EMOM. Then we take it to the bike for 15 minutes of high-intensity work: HIIT, Tabata, or climbs.
Here’s the split:
Day 1: Upper Push + HIIT
Day 2: Lower Body + Climb
Day 3: Upper Pull + Tabata
Get in there, start lifting, and let me know what you think!

Thanks for reading, Hustlers. Go out there, pivot with power, and stay curious about what’s next.
